Larry Kenneth Slinkard went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
He was born in Cape Girardeau Feb. 21, 1940, son of Arbon Esso and Opal Rhodes Slinkard. He and Gladys Jewell Smith were married April 22, 1966, in Scott City.
Larry was a conductor with Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City and the Cape Girardeau Chapter of Harley-Davidson Owners Group.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jason (Kristie) Slinkard of Kelso, Mo.; a daughter, Crystal (Brian) Hedge of Palm Bay, Fla.; four sisters, Virginia Hudson and Virgie Turner of Jackson, Laverne Hobeck of Chester, Ill., Sylvia Crites of Decatur, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Kyle and Hannah Hedge, and Zachary and Kendyl Slinkard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Norris and Mark Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City.
