Larry Wayne Popp, 68, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, at home, surrounded by family.
He was born April 10, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, son of Richard and Juanita Sebastian Popp. Larry and Tammy Roloff were married June 11, 1977.
Larry was a 1967 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. He was a Star Boy Scout with Troop 2. While stationed in Japan in the Navy, he was a scout master. Later, he became a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 21 and was awarded the Order of the Arrow.
He was a member of Christ Evangelical Church. He was also a member of the Elks.
He retired from Magna-Tel and had worked for Popp's A&W.
Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years; four children, Jennifer (Tim) Becker of Millersville and Joanne Popp, Jonathan Popp and Jamie (Tim) Maklary, all of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren, Tabitha, Jackson, Emma, Matthew, Kyleigh, Jeremiah and T.J. He is also survived by an aunt, Iona Williams of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Gerald Popp of Greenville, Missouri, and Joe (Abby) Popp of Cape Girardeau; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and two special uncles, Billy Sebastian and Harry Williams.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A celebration of Larry's life will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with David Giles and the Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. The family would love for you to bring a funny story or special moment to share. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospital.
