Larry Glenn

Larry Wade Glenn, of Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his loving family, entered his eternal home on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021. He was born on Nov. 28, 1947, to Charlie Leon and Ruby Walker Glenn, both of whom greeted him upon his arrival. On April 12, 1969, he married Pansy Minehart and shared a 50-plus year love affair with her. She survives of their home in Cape Girardeau along with his three sons, Jeff (Tracey) Glenn of Cape Girardeau, Doug (Mackenzie) Glenn of Jackson and Jonathan (Belinda) Glenn of Jackson; and Larry's beloved dog, Milo.

Larry is also survived by two brothers, Dean (Diana) Glenn of Austin, Texas, and Steve (Sonja) Glenn of Kewanee, Missouri; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.W. (Janice) Minehart of Wappapello, Missouri, Lenda Pearson of Kewanee, Larry Minehart of Kewanee, Lee (Cindy) Minehart of East Prairie, Missouri, Cathy Minehart of New Madrid, Missouri; a host of nieces and nephews; and seven grandchildren, Zac, Summer, Josh, Jarrett, Jace, Linc and Sterling who adore their Paw Paw. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dale (Betty) Glenn of New Madrid.

Larry was a 1965 graduate of New Madrid High School, where he was a standout basketball player. He earned a scholarship to Mineral Area Community College where he starred on the varsity basketball team. He served four years in the maintenance company for the National Guard at Cape Girardeau. Larry retired from Noranda Aluminum after a 30-plus year career.

He and Pansy loved to travel and shared a lifetime of fantastic adventures across the United States and beyond. He expressed his joy in life through a heart-warming smile that will be sorely missed. In addition to traveling with Pansy, Larry's great passions in life included playing in the SEMO Seniors Golf League and the Bent Creek Men's Golf League. He was a gifted athlete and his prowess on the golf course was the envy of many a golfer. He was the proud owner of a hole-in-one at the New Madrid Country Club. Larry also enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games and Fox News with his sidekick, Milo. He held a deep love for his country and the veterans who served it.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, Missouri, on Friday at 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid.
