ULLIN, Ill. -- Funeral for Larry Eugene Gibbons of Dublin, Ohio, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin. Joe Cook will officiate, with burial in Christian Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Gibbons, 55, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, Ohio.
He was born March 11, 1943, in Springville, Tenn., son of Burgess Clayton and Mattie Sanford Gibbons. He married Linda Kaye Cheek.
Gibbons pastored churches in five states and two countries for 29 years. He was also a clinical psychologist in Columbus, Ohio.
He received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, master of divinity in theology from Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, and doctor of ministry in pastoral counseling from Chicago Theological Seminary.
Gibbons also received a doctor of ministry in organizational administration from McCormick theological Seminary in Chicago, and a doctor of philosophy in clinical psychology from the Union Institute in Cincinnati (pending thesis approval).
Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott Gibbons of Chicago; a daughter, Lari Gibbons of Dayton, Ohio; four brothers, Franklin Gibbons of Paris, Tenn., Tom Gibbons of O'Fallon, Mo., Clayton Gibbons of Maryland Heights, Mo., Coy Gibbons of Florissant, Mo.; two sisters, Allene Dillon of Springville, and Madeline Canter of Muskegon, Mich.
