ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral for Larry Joe Baker of Anna will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home. The Rev. Larry Shacklee will officiate. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery with military honors by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
Baker, 60, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 14, 1939, at Wolf Lake, son of Joe and Virginia Markert Baker. He and Carole Anne Keistler were married July 29, 1975, in Anna.
Baker was in the U.S. Army 31 years and was a command sergeant major when he retired. He served in Vietnam 33 months in eight campaigns. His last command was with the Tropic Lightening Division in Hawaii.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, VFW Post 3455, and life member of Non-Commissioned Officers of America.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David and Michael Baker of Jonesboro; a grandson; and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter.
