Larry Allen, 75, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1939, in Burfordville, to Ray and Rhoda Johnson Allen. He and Judith "Judy" Windeknecht were married Oct. 4, 1958, in Cape Girardeau.

Larry attended grade school in rural Cape Girardeau County and high school in Jackson.

He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, serving from Jan. 18, 1962, to Jan. 6, 1964.

Larry farmed west of Jackson and was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562 in Cape Girardeau. He worked many years in commercial refrigeration. In the late 1980s he partnered with Glenn Neumeyer and Bob Wendel to establish ANW Refrigeration.

Loving survivors include his wife of 56 years, Judy of Jackson; a daughter, Christine (Denny) Sievers and children Austin, Derek, and Mackenzie, all of Byron Center, Michigan; a son, Doug (Brenda) Allen and children Devon, Caitlin, and Lindsey, all of Jackson; a brother, Mike (Barbara) Allen of Imperial, Missouri; a sister, Ruth Aufdenberg of Cape Girardeau; and a sister-in-law, Vera Allen of Millersville.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Murel, Milford and Darrell Allen; and a sister, Maxine Maevers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
