JACKSON -- Funeral service for Laretha Niswonger of Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Bill Ellis will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Niswonger, 79, died Tuesday, June 25, 1996, at Vencor Hospital of St. Louis.
She was born Dec. 13, 1916, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Luther and Alice Miller Crites. She and Marvin Niswonger were married July 6, 1935, in Cape Girardeau.
Niswonger worked at the former International Shoe Co. here 12 years, worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill four years, and operated a daycare center in her home for six years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School a number of years.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Laraine Adams of Jackson, Darlene James of Wildwood; a sister, Noma Noland of Jackson, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
