ANNA, Ill. -- Lanie Clayton, 92, of Anna, died Wednesday, April 24, 1996, at Union County Hospital.
She was born Nov. 6, 1903, in Anna, daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Viola Vaughn Smith. She and William A. Clayton were married Aug. 22, 1922. He died Oct. 16, 1975.
Clayton was a member of Saratoga United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Vurline Brasel of Cobden, Pansy Jackson of Anna, Freda Brasel of Fort Worth, Texas, Betty Raney of Carbondale; a son, Beryl Clayton of Anna; two sisters, Eulalah Miller and Sibyl Jones of Anna; a brother, Amos Smith of Eureka; 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, daughter, five sisters and a brother.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5-9 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don McNiel officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
