Lanette Cecile Rodgers, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was born Nov. 22, 1953, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Lyle and Ruth Eitemiller Parker. She and Michael Rodgers were married June 11, 1983, at Ames, Iowa.
Lanette had a teacher's heart. She taught elementary school in Alaska before moving to Missouri, where she was a grant writer and director of Godwin Center of Math and Science Education at Southeast Missouri State University. She loved building friendships through her Bible study groups and enjoyed leisurely lunches full of great conversation. She loved spending time at the beach on the Carolina Coast and caring for her beloved pets.
Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Rodgers of Greensboro; brother, Ron (Renee) Parker of Venice, Florida; and sister, Karen (Pat) Ogbourne of Branson, Missouri.
Lanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Rodgers; and two dogs and a cat.
A memorial gathering will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 14, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
