Lana Jean Vickery, 70, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Chaffee, Mo., passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 16, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, to William G. and Fern Vickery.
"Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you, I love you so ... It was heaven here with you."
I leave my prides and joys, a son, Darren Mason of Chandler, Ariz.; a daughter, Jill Ballard, and husband Randy; a grandson, Owen Smith, all of Fair Grove, Mo.; my always loving and supportive family, mother, Fern Vickery Kyle of Jackson; a brother, William R. Vickery of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Janet McGhee of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Susan Vickery; a brother-in-law, Terry Godwin; many nieces, nephews and their families.
"I have been blessed with wonderful friends and I couldn't begin to name all of you. Keep your joy and smile when you look at the Gulf of Mexico and beautiful beaches where I found so much peace."
Family and friends will honor Lana with a celebration of life service from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson.
