BENTON, Mo. -- LaFayette McCoy, 88, of Benton died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girar-deau.
He was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Tuckerman, Ark., son of Fayette and Mary Ella Brandon McCoy. He married Jeroleen Shrum, who died Nov. 8, 1977.
McCoy was a machinist at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan. He had lived in Benton since 1998, and attended Broadway Methodist Church in Scott City.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmie McCoy of Willow Springs, Mo., Gary McCoy of Scott City; two daughters, Judy Morris of Benton, Marie Mayberry of Commerce, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jim Norris officiating. Burial will be in Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo., with military graveside rites.
