LaCreta "Cretie" Scifers, 79, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Lick Springs, Mo., daughter of Wallace and Elizabeth Gould Bennett. She and Victor Scifers were married July 30, 1953, in Streator, Ill. He passed away Feb. 7, 2007.
LaCreta moved from Jackson to Cape Girardeau in 2002. She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church and a lifelong member of VFW Auxiliary Post 3838.
She received LPN training in Streator, where she was a nurse for 45 years.
Loving survivors include two sons, Jack Scifers of Cape Girardeau, Leighton Reid of Bucklin, Mo.; two granddaughters, Lezlie (Steve) Fox of Springfield, Mo., Emily Scifers of Minneapolis; and a sister, Gloria Ann Bennett of Moberly, Mo.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating.
