Kevin J. Jansen, 58, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home.

He was born March 1, 1956, in Cape Girardeau, to Bonnie L. and Cletus L. Jansen.

Kevin worked for Kelly Transportation Co. for many years in various capacities. He enjoyed Cardinals baseball, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

He has been a member of St. Mary's Cathedral Parish for many years as well as the Knights of Columbus St. Vincent's Council 1111.

Survivors include five sisters, Linda Piatt (Dale), LaDonna Scheffer (Charles), Bonita VanGennip (Fred), Barbara Hammers (Howard), all of Cape Girardeau County, and Rhonda Davis (Matthew) of Collierville, Tenn. He also is survived by several aunts and uncles and many nieces, nephews, friends and his special dog, Daffy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his stepmother, Edna Niemier Jansen.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be said at 7 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus rosary will follow.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Old St. Vincent's Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers/plants, the family requests memorials be made in Kevin's honor to St. Mary's Cathedral, Birthright or the Wounded Warrior Project.
