Kevin Clark Cowan, 46, of Biehle, Mo., passed away Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born April 29, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, son of Clark and Betty J. Curry Cowan. He and Kathy Schemel were married June 24, 1978, in Biehle. She survives.
Other loving survivors include two sons, Jason, a graduate student at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, and Jeffrey, a sophomore at the University of Missouri-Columbia; a daughter, Kimberly, a senior at the University of Missouri-St. Louis; his mother, Betty Cowan; and a brother, Dr. Mike Cowan, both of Oak Ridge, Mo.; and mother-in-law Lutrudis Schemel of Biehle.
Also surviving is an uncle, Carl Curry, and an aunt, Alice Curry, both of Jackson; three brothers-in-law, Mike Schemel and wife Cathy of Jackson, Carl Schemel and wife Janet and Dale Schemel and wife Debbie, all of Perryville, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Gera LeGrand and husband Donnie of Benton, Mo., and Denise Pudlo and husband Rich of Fenton, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Kevin was a 1975 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He had worked at Jim Wilson Company in warehouse and delivery, Plaza Tire as a purchasing agent and Carl Schemel Construction Company in Perryville.
He had been a member of St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle since 1977 and formerly served as an usher. He was also a member of the former Oak Ridge Jaycees.
A loving and faithful father, Kevin always placed his family first. He cherished many good friends and the good times shared with them in his community.
Friends may call Sunday, July 6, between 4 to 8 p.m., at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Parish prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m., with Father John Harth officiating. Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 7, at 10 a.m., at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, with Father Mark Bozada officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery.
