BLOOMFIELD -- Kermit Alvin Smith, 91, of Bloomfield died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare Center.
He was born Sept. 1, 1908, at Bloomfield, son of Thomas and Pearl Green Smith. He and Myrtle Matthews were married Nov. 9, 1935. She survives.
Smith retired from General Motors Assembly Plant in St. Louis in 1970. He was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ and Bloomfield Masonic Lodge 153 A.F.&A.M. Other survivors include a son, Ray Smith of Barnhart; a daughter, Doris Barnes of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Jim Faughn officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
