EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Kermit V. "Buck" Samons, 72, of East Prairie died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Arkansas, son of Troy E. and Lethel Duff Samons. He and Norma Jean Stevenson were married July 15, 1950, in Piggott, Ark.
Samons was transmission supervisor with Southern California Gas Co. 34 years. He moved to East Prairie 12 years ago from Cherry Valley, Calif. He was a member of First Baptist Church in East Prairie.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Samons of Milton, Fla., Vincent Samons of Palm Desert, Calif.; three brothers, Harley Samons of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Bernest Samons of Tulane, Calif., Galen Samons of Georgetown, Ind.; three sisters, Elane Edeler of Prescott, Ariz., Faye Love of Corning, Calif., Erlene Stallard of Homeland, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. George White officiating. Burial will be in Smith-Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter, Mo.
