ST. LOUIS -- Kerle J. Slinkard, 89, of St. Louis died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Jan. 27, 1908, at Zalma, son of Leo and Ida Mae Eaker Slinkard. He married Gwendolyn Nichols on June 5, 1928, at St. Louis.
Slinkard was a retired merchant and, with the exception of a stint as a produce buyer, his life's work was as a store clerk and chain store manager. He retired in 1970.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Connie Gosney of Lake Ozark, Carol Dean Gray of Arnold, Colleen Laumand of St. Louis, Sandy Tomey and Patricia Hurst, both of Fenton; four sisters, Pollie Matthew of Florida, Mollie Gray of California, DeShea Fronabarger of St. Peters, and Imogene Tucker of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, six sisters and a grandson.
Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance today from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Berrong Cemetery in Zalma.
