ADVANCE, Mo. -- Kenneth D. Welty, 75, of Advance passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019. He was born Feb. 29, 1944, in Pollard, Arkansas, the son of the late Owen and Claudia Fowler Welty. Kenny married Janet Sue Welker in Greenbriar, Missouri, on Jan. 2, 1965, for a marriage totaling 54 years...

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Kenneth D. Welty, 75, of Advance passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019.

He was born Feb. 29, 1944, in Pollard, Arkansas, the son of the late Owen and Claudia Fowler Welty. Kenny married Janet Sue Welker in Greenbriar, Missouri, on Jan. 2, 1965, for a marriage totaling 54 years.

Growing up, he enjoyed swimming in the St. Francis River, fishing and hunting and, as a father, coaching Little League. Kenny proudly served in the Navy and the Navy Reserves, serving a total of eight years and was a firm supporter of veterans affairs.

He worked for Hedrick Concrete for 10 years and retired from SEMO Ready Mix after 25 years. He continued to work part time for Delta Concrete for five years.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Janet Welty; daughter, Barbara Welty; sons, Bradley Welty and William (Marsha) Welty; grandchildren, Loghan Hill, William Dakota and Dylan Welty; brother, Ronnie (Lori) Welty; sisters, Bonnie (Eugene) Clayton and Janice (Larry) Norman; and longtime friend, Ronnie (Rose) Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael, Carroll and Jim Welty; and sister, Fayeon Welty Ashcraft.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home.

Funeral will follow at 11:30 a.m. today at the funeral home, with Maurice "Reese" Beeson officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. today in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be given to Stoddard County Children's Home or Missouri Patriot Guard Riders, 1107 Springbrook Park, Farmington, MO 63640.
