Kenneth Sullivan

Kenneth Ray "Ken" Sullivan, 47, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, in Ste. Genevieve County, Mo., from injuries received in an automobile accident.

He was born Sept. 24, 1964, in Bristow, Okla., son of Clifford Melvin and Helen Rozelle Cathcart Sullivan.

Ken had resided in Poplar Bluff the past year and formerly lived in Van Buren, Mo., and Columbus, Ohio. He was a graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau. He was a chef and formerly owned and operated the Chile Verde Cafe in Columbus. Ken loved to cook and was a Pit Master and had perfected his own barbecue sauce.

He had a quick wit that often made him the center of attention. He was a self-proclaimed cornhole (bean bag toss) champion. He was a very loving and caring person who enjoyed hiking and nature especially along the Current River.

Survivors include three sisters, Deanna Sullivan of Taos, N.M., Sandy Sullivan of Columbus, Robbie Ralph of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Michael Sullivan of Cape Girardeau; a niece, Whitney Sullivan Crane of Columbus; many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Clifford Sullivan.

A private family gathering has been planned to memorialize his life.
