PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Kenneth W. Stirnaman, 93, of Perryville died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Riely Lake, Illinois, son of Charles W. and Cora Greathouse Stirnaman. He first married Sophie Kline on Oct. 29, 1947. She preceded him in death Dec. 21, 1988. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Kenneth W. Stirnaman, 93, of Perryville died Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Riely Lake, Illinois, son of Charles W. and Cora Greathouse Stirnaman.

He first married Sophie Kline on Oct. 29, 1947. She preceded him in death Dec. 21, 1988. He then married Alvena M. Hoffman-Nolen on July 2, 1994. She survives in Perryville.

He was retired from the U.S. Army and was an Army veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict and Vietnam.

He was a life member of American Legion Post 133, AMVETS Post 94, Veterans of Foreign War Post 4282 and Disabled American Veterans.

Other survivors include two daughters, Michiko Nielsen and Billie Sue Peterson, both of Chassell, Michigan; four stepsons, Michael Nolen of Wentzville, Missouri, Tom Nolen of Festus, Missouri, and Bruce and Larry Nolen of Perryville; one brother and one sister, Charles W. Stirnaman Jr. of New Mexico and Peggy Ann Helmers of Chester, Illinois; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a brother, Carl Stirnaman; a sister, Evelyn Suhre; and an infant sister.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. July 7 at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. July 7 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rich Wehrmeyer officiating. Funeral military honors will be provided by the VFW and the Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
