PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Kenneth E. Killian, 72, of Perryville died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Missouri Baptist Hospital.

He was born Aug. 31, 1936, at Perryville, son of Oscar L. and Georgia Mae Rhoades Killian Sr. He and Janet R. Zahner were married June 6, 1959, at Perryville.

Killian worked at Perry County Memorial Hospital 50 years in the positions of lab technician, X-ray technician and nuclear medicine technician. He also worked at Chester Memorial Hospital as needed.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Killian was chairman of the Perry County Red Cross Blood Drive 30 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where he served as a eucharistic minister. He was a member of Holy Name Society, 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul Society.

He was a past member of Jaycees and served on Perry County Health Department Board. He was instrumental in starting the Mineral Area Radiology School at Park Hills, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dr. Kevin Killian of St. Charles, Mo., Keith Killian of The Woodlands, Texas, Dr. Kent Killian of Kirkwood, Mo.; three daughters, Kathy Parsons of Cape Girardeau, Kimberly Burns of Wentzville, Mo., Karla Smith of St. Charles; a brother, Oscar Killian Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Saturday at Miller Family Funeral Home. Parish prayers with Knights of Columbus will be at 7 Friday. The rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Gerald Blessing officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
