Kenneth Berry Grigsby, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Lutheran Home nursing facility in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Grigsby was born in Hattieville, Arkansas. He was the fourth child of seven born to Walter and Veda (Berry) Grigsby.

He spent his early life in Mississippi County, Missouri, where he helped with family farming. He had been a resident of Cape Girardeau for the last 56 years.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in field artillery. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Grigsby retired from his position as field service representative for Missouri-Illinois Tractor corporation in 1987.

He was an avid fisherman who made his own lures, an animal lover, a gardener and an outdoor enthusiast.

Mr. Grigsby was a faithful Christian. He spent many years as a Sunday-school teacher. Mr. Grigsby was a member and greeter at the Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Merna Slee Grigsby; a sister, Emma Jean Ivie of East Prairie, Missouri; and his son, Kenneth Berry Grigsby Jr. and wife Mary Linda King of San Jose, California. He also leaves close relatives James and Connie (Turner) Owens, Scott and Sheila Turner Reed, Bill and Myra Jackson Massey, Bruce and Debbi Jackson Brader and brother-in-law and close friend George Allan Turner.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
