ADVANCE, Mo. -- Kenneth "Kenny" Chapman, 74, of Advance passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 12, 1944, in Perkins, Missouri, to the late Billy Sunday and Gladys LaRue Scism Chapman. He and Lois Menz were married Sept. 6, 1963, and had two sons. ADVANCE, Mo. -- Kenneth "Kenny" Chapman, 74, of Advance passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 12, 1944, in Perkins, Missouri, to the late Billy Sunday and Gladys LaRue Scism Chapman. He and Lois Menz were married Sept. 6, 1963, and had two sons. He later married Alice Fay Thomure on Jan. 7, 2013, and she survives of the home.

Kenneth was a retired laborer for Cape Girardeau Local No. 1104, and he also worked for 30 years at Florsheim Shoe in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Sikeston, Missouri.

Kenny enjoyed hunting and fishing with his boys and grandchildren at his property, Triple K Ridge. He also loved to sing and won awards at the Kenny Rogers Telethon and Senior Idol at Homecomers in Jackson and SEMO District Fair.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Chapman of Advance; two sons, Kenny (Paula) Chapman of Cape Girardeau and Keith (Diane) Chapman of Chaffee, Missouri; two brothers, Norman (Sharon) Chapman of Cape Girardeau and Larry (Shelly) Chapman of Hillsboro, Missouri; two sisters, Sharon Bowen of Ballwin, Missouri, and Margaret Heuring of New Hamburg, Missouri; five grandchildren, Korey (Katie), Kayla, Mackenzie, Madison and Chevy; and a great-grandchild, Kaynen. He is also survived by Lois Menz of Jackson.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Dale Chapman, and a sister, Mary Kinder.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bobby Mouser officiating. Burial will be at New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
