SIKESTON, Mo. -- Kenneth Paul "K.P." Bright, 71, of Sikeston died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was born Jan. 7, 1930 in Lexington, Tenn., a son of John Henry and Rowena White Bright. He was a member of the Vanduser Baptist Church and a self-employed farmer for more than 50 years. SIKESTON, Mo. -- Kenneth Paul "K.P." Bright, 71, of Sikeston died Friday, Aug. 17, 2001, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 7, 1930 in Lexington, Tenn., a son of John Henry and Rowena White Bright.

He was a member of the Vanduser Baptist Church and a self-employed farmer for more than 50 years. In addition to farming, he operated cotton gins in Crowder, Mo., and Matthews, Mo., for 42 years.

He and Audrey Elizabeth Middleton were married Oct. 14, 1950, in Current, Mich.

Bright was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Kenny Bright of Tanner, Mo.; three daughters, Barbara Bright of Phoenix, Ariz., Peggy Walls of Matthews; Debbie Juden of Sikeston; two brothers, Joe Bright of Henderson, Tenn., Billy Bright of Jackson, Tenn.; five sisters, Betty Miller, Mae Bowman, Wilma Holmes, Mary Coleman and Tiny Thomas, all of Lexington, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by the Missouri Veterans Honor Guard.
