MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Kenneth Carl Bohnsack, 81, of Marble Hill died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Elder Care of Marble Hill.
He was born May 5, 1925, at Zalma, Mo., son of Roy Lee and Lottie Nevada Bitterman Bohnsack. He and Ina M. Collins were married Dec. 5, 1943. She died March 28, 2006.
Bohnsack worked as a tractor-trailer mechanic for several years for the International Company in Advance, Yellow Transit and Nighthawk Transit in St. Louis and was a member of the AFL-CIO Local 777. He was of the General Baptist faith.
Bohnsack served his country as a sergeant during World War II in the U.S. Army as General Patton's Jeep driver in the Rhineland, Central Europe and the Ardennes where he received three Bronze Stars and a distinguished Unit Badge GO No. 81 Headquarters 2nd Armored Division on Nov. 23, 1945.
Survivors include a son, Carl Dean Bohnsack of St. Louis; a daughter, Velma Jean Hayes of Elmwood, Ill.; four brothers, Glen Bohnsack of Marble Hill, Royal Lee Bohnsack of Advance, Mo., Gale Bohnsack of Marion, Ill., Dale Bohnsack of Glennon, Mo.; a sister, Wanda Slinkard of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ethel Meyers officiating.
Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill with full military honors provided by the Missouri Honors Team.
