Emma Kathlean "Kay" Osborn, 69, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 14, 1938, at Hahn, Mo., daughter of "Shorty" and Ruth Eaker Proffer. Kay was a graduate of Zalma High School in Zalma, Mo., where she was salutatorian. Emma Kathlean "Kay" Osborn, 69, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at her home, surrounded by her family.

She was born Sept. 14, 1938, at Hahn, Mo., daughter of "Shorty" and Ruth Eaker Proffer.

Kay was a graduate of Zalma High School in Zalma, Mo., where she was salutatorian. She and Bobbie Lee Osborn were married June 23, 1956, at Kinder, Mo.

She was an integral part of the Meat Shop in Cape Girardeau and was a member of Gospel Assembly Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Osborn of Cape Girardeau; a son, Rob Osborn and wife Dianne of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Cathy Newcomer of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three sisters, Ruby Umfleet of Piedmont, Mo.; Opal Eaker of Cape Girardeau, Ada Cozmo of Three Rivers, Mich.; two brothers, Wilburn Proffer and Luther Rhodes of Jackson; a half brother, Charles Rhodes of Neosho, Mo.; six grandchildren, Chris Osborn, James Osborn, Jessica Osborn, Carrie Newcomer, Lacey Newcomer and Matthew Newcomer.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Brian Osborn; and three brothers, Melvin, Everett and Otis Proffer.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Winferd Wren, Luther Rhodes and Webster Eaker officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Southeast Hospice.
