Charlotte Kay Murphy, 84, of Jackson, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born April 28, 1934, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Herbert W. and Callie R. Thomas Kellett. She was a graduate of Delta High School. Kay and Daniel E. Koontz were married Nov. 4, 1950, in East Prairie, Missouri. Three children were born to their union, and they had been married only 16 years when Daniel passed away. She and Wilford "Bill" Murphy were married Jan. 4, 1974, in Cape Girardeau. They had been married only 17 years when Bill passed away.
Kay worked many years in the office at Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau. She also worked as a real estate agent and owned and operated the former Classy Cowboy Western Store in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include two children, Thomas Koontz of Cape Girardeau and Julie (Chug) Crites, and Julie's son, Luke Koontz of Jackson; and a brother, Tim (Jenneth) Kellett of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel, and their son, Michael Jacob Koontz; her second husband, Bill Murphy; and two brothers, Thomas and Josh Kellett.
At Kay's request, there is no visitation or service.
