Mary Kathryn Patrick, 99, died peacefully Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at home with her children by her side.

Known to most as "Katy," she was a devout Catholic, wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was the focus of her life. She was always a proud, independent, yet gracious, woman and the matriarch of The Patrick Family.

On the go most of her life, she was active and believed in holistic and natural healing as much as modern medicine.

She was a native of Cape Girardeau and a graduate of St. Mary's High School. In 1941, she borrowed $100 from her dad and took the train to California to marry Payton "Pat" Patrick, whom she met in high school. They moved back to Cape Girardeau in the late 1940s and opened Patrick Furniture Co., now known as Patrick Furniture and Mattress, still in the family and managed by Pat and Katy's grandchildren, Pat and Mike Young.

Katy always had a positive outlook on life, believing we all need at least seven belly laughs a day. Two of her favorite sayings were "This, too, shall pass" and "One of the greatest gifts you can have is the gift of acceptance."
