FROHNA, Mo. -- Katie Marie Lorenz, 32, of Frohna died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 27, 1985 in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Dennis and Karen Schmidt Miesner. Her parents survive in Frohna. She and Jonathan David Lorenz were married April 10, 2010. He survives of the home.
Katie was Interim Director of University School for Young Children in Cape Girardeau. She was a devoted teacher and had a Master of Arts in Human Environmental Studies. Katie was known for her contagious smile, vibrant personality and her love of family. She was an advocate for breast cancer prevention and early detection awareness. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, Missouri.
Other survivors include one son, Mason Dean Lorenz of the home; one sister, Emily (Alec) Ernst of Perryville, Missouri; her maternal grandmother, Doris Schmidt of Perryville; her father and mother-in-law, Dean (Joyce) Lorenz of Frohna; and two brothers-in-law, Matthew Lorenz of Frohna and Jesse (Dana) Lorenz of Fenton, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Marvin "Pepper" Schmidt, and her paternal grandparents, Theodore and Mildred Miesner.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
