PULASKI, Ill. -- Kathy Thurston, 63, of Pulaski passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, at her home.
She was born Dec. 28, 1951, in Mounds, Illinois, daughter of the late Perry and Stella Jameson Severs.
Kathy was a member of Pulaski Christian Church, where she was a vacation Bible school teacher and a member of the Ladies Aide. She was a volunteer with Pulaski Civic Club and a volunteer at a nursing home. She previously worked as a teacher's aide for the Meridian School District in Mounds, and managed the Pulaski Video Store several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dean and Cecil Julian; a sister, Pat Bankson and brother-in-law, George Bankson; and her in-laws, Bill and Mag Thurston.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Thurston of Pulaski; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry P. and Lisa Thurston of Pulaski, Joey and Buffy Thurston of Thebes, Illinois, and Heath and Jenny Thurston of Tuscola, Illinois; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Stacy Ice of Pulaski; and 10 grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan, Andrew, Katie, Bryan, Kayla, Marley, Brody, Bailey and Breanna.
Also six brothers, Jimmy (Joy) Severs of Memphis, Tennessee, Perry "Al" (Gerrie Sue) Severs of Christopher, Illinois, Doug (Kathy) Severs of Ullin, Illinois, Joe (Teresa) Severs of Chester, Illinois, Bobby (Debbie) Severs of Mounds and Gary (Wanie) Severs of Villa Ridge, Illinois; six sisters, Ada (Fred) Dunsworth of Evansville, Indiana, Mickie (Jack) Hargis of Chester, Dianna (Bodie) Bodenschatz of Jackson, Janie Shumaker of Chenoa, Illinois, Teena (Dan) Kraatz of Dongola, Illinois, and Mae (Bill) Littrell of Jonesboro, Illinois; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barbara, Terry, Darrell, Linda, Benny, Phyllis, Linda, Gary, Betty and Bonnie; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at Pulaski Christian Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the Ladies Aide of the church.
