Kathryn A. "Katie" Taylor, 83, of Cape Girardeau went to be with her Lord Sunday, June 23, 2013.
She was born March 21, 1930, to Leslie Eldon and Flossie Willie Mainer. She and William E. "Slug" Taylor were married June 18, 1948, in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death Jan. 1, 2011.
Kathryn worked a number of years at Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Cape Girardeau and at Wib's Drive-In in Jackson. She loved fishing, gardening and sewing, but she received the most joy by being with her grandchildren. She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Terry (Tricia) of Grain Valley, Mo., and Steve (Phyllis) of Grand Junction, Colo.; five grandchildren, Chris Taylor (Kellie) of Jackson, Sara Taylor of Cape Girardeau, Tyler LaPlaunt of North Hollywood, Calif., and Britney Taylor and Jessica Peete of Grand Junction; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carmen Hoffman of Cape Girardeau and Maxine (Bill) Hatler of Jackson; two brothers, Jerry (Earla) Mainer of Granite City, Ill., and Leslie (Madge) Mainer of Murphysboro, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert "Pete" Mainer of McClure, Ill.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Rob Mehner. A graveside service will be in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Maple United Methodist Church Building Fund or Southeast Hospice.
