Kathleen S. Givens, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at her home.
She was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Essex to Marshall Seymour and Mary Mae Annis DeJournett.
She and Leon Givens were married March 26, 1972, in Allenville. He preceded her in death March 26, 1998.
Kathleen worked at the lunch counter at Woolworth’s and at Southeast Missouri State University. Work and raising her family took up all of her time.
She was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include seven children, Carolyn Allbritton of Cape Girardeau, David (Nancy) Underwood of Jackson, Gary (Mary) Underwood of Jackson, Sandra Housley of Seneca, Debbie (David) Lumbley of Goreville, Illinois, Lisa Ann (Tim) Dillingham of Cape Girardeau and Charles Givens of Cape Girardeau; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Mary Sue (Neil) Conrad.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Darrell, Donnie Gene and Larry Dean Underwood; eight brothers, Woodrow, Clemmer, Cletus, Cleo, Milo, Marvin, Wylie and Lloyd; three grandchildren; and sons-in-law, Russell Allbritton and Bill Housley.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
