Karen Jo McCullough, 78, of Jackson, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Elmer and Odene Kaufman Schaper. She and Shannon McCullough were married Feb. 19, 1966, in Jackson.

Karen graduated from Jackson High School and went on to attend Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church at Gordonville. Karen and Shannon spent most weekends doing anything associated with their Tennessee walking horses, making many friends along the way in several states from Texas to Minnesota. They were members of Jackson Trail Riders and Perry County Saddle Club.

Loving survivors include her husband, Shannon, and two sisters, Kathy Schaper Goodson and Kristi (Tony) Watson, all of Jackson.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews from both her family and Shannon's.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Schaper and her parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital or charity of donor's choice.
