Karen Poston Lipps, 64, of Jackson died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at Monticello House after an extended illness.

She was born July 8, 1953, in Cape Girardeau to Rodney L. Poston Sr. and Virginia Smith Poston.

She and Richard Lipps were married Aug. 23, 1984, in Paducah, Kentucky. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 2013.

Karen was a 1971 graduate of Cape Central High School.

She will be remembered by many for her beautiful smile and warm greetings witnessed on visits to Walmart in Cape Girardeau during her 28 years of service. She was a member of First General Baptist Church.

Those who knew her were aware Karen was an avid NASCAR fan and loved the Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include her father, Rodney L. (Helen) Poston Sr. of Cape Girardeau; brother, Rodney Poston Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky; three sisters, Deborah (Mark) Lunte and Beverly (Jim) Givens, both of Arnold, Missouri, and Shelley (Mike) Lucas of Jackson; a stepson; a stepdaughter; three stepgrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a beloved dog, Casper.

She was preceded in death by her mother and husband.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Sam Ramdial and Jim Rudolph officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Fairmont Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to Siteman Cancer Center, 10 Barnes West Drive Suite 100, St. Louis, MO 63141 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
