JACKSON -- Karen Jean Hobbs, 45, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born June 20, 1952, in Ironton, daughter of Raymond and Wanda Lee Cook Bowen.

She married Darrell Hobbs Feb. 1, 1975, in Cape Girardeau.

She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She was raised in Ironton, then moved to Daisy until her marriage. She then moved to Cape Girardeau. She helped her husband in operation of a painting and lawn service business. She was active in the gospel music field with her husband. She also worked at the Chuckwagon Restaurant in Town Plaza with her husband and brother-in-law, Lou Hobbs.

She is survived by her husband; her parents; two step-sons, Darrin Hobbs and Jeffrey Darrell Hobbs, both of Jackson; a brother, Dennis Bowen of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Sandy Jordan of Casey, Ill.; and two step-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be Friday at the funeral home with chaplain Art Kelley, the Revs. Lindsay Sample and Harold Easton officiating.

Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
