Karen Lynn Baker, 75, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Ratliff Care Center.

She was born Nov. 5, 1946, to Betty and George Points. Karen attended Cape Girardeau Central High School. She and John Baker were married Oct. 4, 1967, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. They were both devoted members of St. Vincent de Paul Church for many years.

John served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years with honors. They were married for 51 years, until John's unfortunate long battle with brain tumors that led him through heaven's gates on Sept. 12, 2018, at home, surrounded by his wife and family.

Karen and John were the owners of Cape Paint & Glass from 1984-2013. Their two sons also worked for the family business during those years.

Karen had a lifelong passion for horses starting at an early age and traveled with her two sons to show them. It was a family hobby that she was very passionate about. She also had a deep love for her dogs, as they were all a very special part of her life.

Karen was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren, Hunter and Jessie, were her whole world. She was a huge supporter of her children and grandchildren's sporting games. When she wasn't at the ball field for baseball games, she and her husband traveled all over the states for years with Jessie, watching her swim competitively. She always said those were the proudest moments of her life. The connection they shared with the sport was very special for both of them.

She and John lived a long, happy life together, full of nothing but love, surrounded with loving friends and family. Out of the office, they spent most of their time on Lake Barkley at Buzzard Rock Marina in the family houseboat named "Karen Lynn" that they shared together. The boat was the family's place to come together, relax, have fun and make many memories. They had gained many loving friends in the area that became like family over the years. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.
