Chaffee, Mo. -- John William Groseclose, 90, of Chaffee passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Randles, son to the late John Alvin and Eunice Scamahorn Groseclose. He and Georgia L. Puckett were married Nov. 6, 1949, and she preceded him in death Nov. 14, 1984. He married Ann Heeb on Jan. 1, 1987, and she died Dec. 16, 2002...

Chaffee, Mo. -- John William Groseclose, 90, of Chaffee passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 10, 1921, in Randles, son to the late John Alvin and Eunice Scamahorn Groseclose. He and Georgia L. Puckett were married Nov. 6, 1949, and she preceded him in death Nov. 14, 1984. He married Ann Heeb on Jan. 1, 1987, and she died Dec. 16, 2002.

J.W. was a retired brakeman for Frisco Railroad in Chaffee. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served during World War II, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Chaffee, the Chaffee VFW and Chaffee Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters; Nancy Davis of Omaha, Neb., and Mary Jane Callen of Olathe, Kan.; four stepsons; Larry Heeb of Madison, Wis., Dan Heeb of Chaffee, Tom Heeb of Columbia, Mo., Jay Heeb of Mountain View, Calif.; five grandchildren, Charley Schafer, Elisabeth Callen, Steven Callen, Alex Heeb and Jacob Heeb; as well as three great-grandchildren.

J.W. was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Chaffee, with Rev. J. Michael Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Team.
