J.W. Cora, 71, 16 N. Henderson, died Wednesday, May 17, 1995, at his home. He was born Oct. 12, 1923, at Sikeston, son of William Arthur and Mabel Skaggs Cora. J.W. Cora, 71, 16 N. Henderson, died Wednesday, May 17, 1995, at his home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1923, at Sikeston, son of William Arthur and Mabel Skaggs Cora. He first married Georgia Ann Kremer June 4, 1950, in Cape Girardeau. She died June 11, 1972. He later married Gloria Lopez July 15, 1972, at Sikeston.

Cora was a brick mason. He was a member of Bricklayer and Trowel and Trades International Local 8 of Belleville, Ill., for 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and had worked in the nursery department. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jay Cora of Canton, Mass.; a daughter, Stephanie Cox of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Charles Cora of Arkansas; two sisters, Lorraine Kesler and Evelyn Garling of Cape Girardeau, and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. S.S. Borum officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery, with military graveside rites.
