EAST PRAIRIE -- J.W. Clift, 65, of East Prairie, died Thursday, March 23, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Aug. 1, 1929, in East Prairie, the son of John W. and Elva Coats Clift. On Dec. 25, 1948, he married Marion Ruth Faire.
Clift had lived in Mississippi County for the past seven years, moving from Scott City, where he was employed at Wetterau as a diesel mechanic until retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of East Prairie.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Bruce Clift of Riverdale, Ga.; two daughters, Pat Gupton of Cunningham, Ky., and Joyce Forbey of Goldsboro, N.C.; one half-brother, Rodney Knight of Ellington, Fla.; one half-sister, Pearl Lewis of Sikeston; seven sisters, Vernetta Cornwell of Mount Angel, Ore., Castella House of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; Johnnie Presson of Hazel Park, Mich.; Nadine Evans of Hartford, Ill.; Uretta Hale of Rockford, Ill., Novelene Taylor of East Prairie and Ronnie Jean Hurley of Glenwood, Iowa; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel with the Rev. George White and the Rev. Burl Britt officiating. Burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
