June Peetz, daughter of the late Arlie William Smith Sr. and Viola Mowery Smith, was born Aug. 16, 1943, in Fornfelt and departed her life Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau at the age of 79 years.

She was a proud homemaker and a dedicated and loving mother. She was a high school graduate from Illmo-Scott City, and went on to Metro Business College in Cape Girardeau.

June was a former employee at H&R Block and Younghouse Party Center, and was highly sought after for many smaller part-time jobs over the years.

She was a lifetime member of the Broadway Methodist Church, FCE of Oak Ridge Homemakers, Daughters of the American Revolution (John Guild Chapter), Society of Mayflower Descendants in Missouri, active in a bowling league for 21 years, and a Girl Scout leader for 21 years.

She never met a stranger and will be remembered by many for her warmth and friendliness.

On Nov. 7, 1964, she was united in marriage to Elmer Dean Peetz in Scott City. He preceded her in death July 21, 2021.

Survivors include one daughter, Dana (Tim) Cook of Jackson; two sons, Dustin (Haley) Peetz of St. Louis and Dylan Peetz of Jackson; one granddaughter, Mallory Cook, "Mammaw's little princess"; one brother; and two sisters.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral services will then be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
