Julius "Jule" Lueders, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
Jule was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Edina, Missouri. He attended Cape Girardeau Central High School and graduated at the top of his class from Northwestern University School of Dentistry in Chicago.
He served two tours of duty in the Navy Dental Corps in Korea. Following his military service, he opened a dental office in Cape Girardeau, but later moved his practice to Downers Grove, Illinois, where he worked for more than 35 years.
Following retirement, Jule returned to Cape Girardeau to be closer to family members. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels, delivering meals to homebound seniors. He was also an avid collector of antique clocks, buying, selling, trading and restoring more than 100 clocks in his lifetime.
Jule is survived by his nieces and nephews, Ralph (Linda) Lueders of Tucson, Arizona, Penelope Lueders of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Richard (Barbara) Lueders of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Melissa Chism (Don) Palmer of Kankakee, Illinois, Gay Lueders of Costa Mesa, California, Meri Cooper of Borrega Springs, California, Holly Lueders of New York and Stephanie Lueders and Neil Lueders of Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Adeline Popp Lueders of Cape Girardeau, as well as his six siblings, Herbert (Betty) Lueders Jr. of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Paul (Genevieve) Lueders of Cape Girardeau, Ralph (Mercedes) Lueders of Hinsdale, Illinois, Clarisse (Harold) Chism of Cape Girardeau, John Lueders of Cape Girardeau and Maurice (Dottie) Lueders of Hoffman Estates.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Ritter Drive.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. A private interment for family members will follow.
