PORTAGEVILLE -- Julius J. "Doodle" Adams, 83, of Portageville, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 1994, at the New Madrid Nursing Center.

He was born July 21, 1910 in Portageville, son of Jefferson Davis Adams and Lelia Meatte Adams.

He married the former Sarah Jean Howard in Sikeston on July 7, 1937.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Jean Adams, of Portageville; sons, Howard Adams of Poplar Bluff and Jerry L. Adams of Poplar Bluff; a daughter, Julia Jean Combs of Charleston; sisters, Theresa Hofstatatter of St. Louis and Nellie Adams, of New Madrid; 10 grandchildren; a step granddaughter; and one great grandson.

Service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Portageville, with the Rev. Bob Bullock officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call today between 4 and 8 p.m. at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville.
