SIKESTON, MO. --Juliette Marie "Judy" Asa, 72, of Charleston, Mo., died Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
She was born June 6, 1934, in Bee Branch, Ark., daughter of O.W. and Lema Holland Duncan. She and Carl William Asa were married Dec. 28, 1951.
Asa owned and operated the Humpty Dumpty Day Care Center for more than 36 years until she retired in June. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, where she served as secretary of her Sunday school class and worked in Vacation Bible School. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for several years.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Todd Asa of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Carla Vanover of Sikeston, Teri McCann of Charleston, and Jeri Nanney of Prattville, Ala.; a brother, Lindon Duncan of Sikeston; a sister, Mary Etta Miles Lancaster of Sikeston; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Charleston.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Interment will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
