Judy Leigh Walter, 62, formerly of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, where she had been hospitalized the past three weeks.
She was born May 12, 1953, in Cape Girardeau to Calvin and Lorene Lincoln Walter.
Judy attended Jackson High School and was a lifelong member of Westside Church of Christ in Jackson. She lived in various residential-care homes throughout Southeast Missouri and worked in several sheltered workshops in the area.
Even though Judy always wanted a husband and family of her own, she always managed to be a social butterfly, truly enjoying the company and conversation of those around her. Her family will remember her for the many things she taught them about life.
Loving survivors include a sister, Patricia "Trisha" (Gus) Wischmann of Jackson; three nephews, Richard (Linda) Wischmann and children Gus and Maggie of O'Fallon, Missouri, Derek (Kristen) Wischmann and daughter Hazel of Wildwood, Missouri, and Ashley Wischmann and children Brent, Brody and Kylie of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Natasha Wischmann.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Gus Wischmann officiating. The graveside committal service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cook Cemetery in Scopus, Missouri.
