Judith “Judy” Ann Marie Wilkinson, 82, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at her home. Her family extends heartfelt appreciation to Saint Francis Hospice for the excellent care given to Judy.
She was born Nov. 30, 1941, in Neelys Landing, to Andrew and Lillie Bishop McClard. She was a 1959 graduate of Jackson High School. She was raised and baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church near Pocahontas, also the church of her marriage to Gary Wilkinson on Dec. 5, 1959. A daughter, Tina, was born to their union.
Judy’s early employment included the Jackson Hosiery Mill and Lee Rowan. While Tina was small, she withdrew from public employment and did some babysitting. Later, she worked in laundry at Holiday Inn and retired from the laundry department at Saint Francis Medical Center, where she made many friends.
Judy enjoyed homemaking. She liked flower and vegetable gardening, canning and shopping, and animals held a special place in her heart. She took the greatest pleasure in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband of nearly 65 years, Gary Wilkinson of Jackson; daughter, Tina (Mark) Hobeck of Jackson; grandchildren, Spencer (Kayla) Hobeck of Millersville, Ashley Hobeck and Mackenzie Hobeck (Hank Becker) of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Audrey, Kiarra, Addison, Brynleigh, and Raegan; brothers, David McClard of Mounds, Oklahoma, Randy (late Sharon) McClard of Jackson; and Gary’s siblings, LaDonna (Bob) Perusse of Justin, Texas, and J.W. (Louise) Wilkinson of Hurst, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan (John) Farrow; and Gary’s parents, R.C. and Cecile Wilkinson.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 1, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Eric Laffoon will conduct the funeral service at 1:30 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Saint Francis Hospice; Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary; or the American Cancer Society.
