Judith A. Holcomb, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at her home.
She was born March 11, 1937, in Cape Girardeau to Otto and Mildred Ladreiter Hanschen. She and Dr. John K. Holcomb were married in 1959 at Flat River, Missouri. He preceded her in death March 24, 2016.
She graduated high school in Flat River and then St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis.
She loved gardening, entertaining, golfing, tennis and traveling with her husband. She looked forward to spending a couple of winter months with John in The Villages community in Florida, where they enjoyed spending time with many close friends in a warmer climate. She enjoyed cooking and was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her yummy dishes with friends and family. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many clothes for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a selfless soul always eager to give her time and support to anyone in need. She had a difficult time telling someone "no."
She was volunteer for Stephen Ministry, Southeast Hospice, Red Cross, Meals on Wheels and many other charities.
She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and started the walking program.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Cameron of Cape Girardeau; son, Doug (Jeri) Holcomb of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Joshua (Cassi) Holcomb, Amber (Cole) Jansen, Katelyn (Andrew) Stiles, Clayton Holcomb, Chase (Brianna) Silvers and Amanda Cameron; two great-grandchildren, Weston and Hazel Holcomb; and two nephews, Johnny (Kathryn) Kipp and Peter (Adrian) Kipp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, David Holcomb; and a niece, Jennifer Hamadi.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Mark Martin officiating. There will be a private burial at Holcomb Family Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
