Judith L. "Judi" Abernathy, 75, of Jackson died Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at her daughter's home in Bragg City, Missouri.

She was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Fornfelt to Albert and Ethel Gettings Cook. She and Norman "Buck" Abernathy were married Feb. 11, 1962, at Scott City.

Judi loved attending her grandchildren's events, and she enjoyed cooking for her family.

She was a very active member of Iona Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she was vacation Bible School director over 30 years. She loved doing crafts, which worked very well with her VBS work.

Survivors include a son, Gerald N. (Khristy) Abernathy; a daughter, Sheila (Wayne) Baylor; brothers, William W. Cook of Dittmer, Missouri, and Robert A. Cook of Temple, Texas; granddaughters, Samantha Baylor and Hannah Baylor, both of Bragg City, and Claire Abernathy of Jackson; and a grandson, Thomas Abernathy of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Cook; her mother, Ethel Gettings Cook; and her husband, Norman "Buck" Abernathy.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Allan Fletchall officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Iona Baptist Church.
