Juanita C. Feverston, formerly of 1127 William St. in Cape Girardeau, a homemaker and retired fashion associate with Roth's Department Store, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in Bangor, Maine. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Feverston was born Nov. 27, 1915, to William and Minnie Scholl Walker on the family farm near Dutchtown and Gordonville. She was educated at Campster School and later moved to Cape Girardeau where she married Cleo Curtis (Jimmy) Feverston in 1935. He died Nov. 18, 1957. She was a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau County until moving to live with her son and daughter-in-law in 1994.

During World War II, she and her husband worked at Alameda Air Force Base in Oakland, Calif. After the war, they returned to Cape Girardeau where Juanita worked in the office of F.W. Woolworth's until the late 1960s. She worked at Osterloh's Book Store before joining Roth's Department Store.

Mrs. Feverston was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She also attended General Baptist Church and St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Juanita leaves her son, Dr. James Douglas Feverston and his wife, Sandee, of Hampden, Maine; a grandson, James Douglas Feverston Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Mexia, Texas; and a granddaughter, Leah Feverston of Hampden, Maine. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, a sister and a great-grandson.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., with the Rev. David Hintz officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
