DONGOLA, Ill. -- Juanita Burd, 81, of Dongola died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Jonesboro Health Care Center. She was born March 15, 1927, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of Thomas and Ethel Barnwell McCain. DONGOLA, Ill. -- Juanita Burd, 81, of Dongola died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Jonesboro Health Care Center.

She was born March 15, 1927, in Cairo, Ill., daughter of Thomas and Ethel Barnwell McCain. She and Roland Burd were married Jan. 6, 1945.

Burd was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Anna, Ill., and had worked as a home health nurse.

Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Loretta Maeie and Martha Killian; five brothers, Clyde McCain, Tom McClain, Wayne McClain, Ronald McClain and Bob McClain.

She was preceded in death by two infant daughters, a sister and two brothers.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, Ill.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gaylen Holden officiating.

Interment will be in Mound City National Cemetery.
