CHARLESTON -- Juanita "Scooter" Brown, 56, of Charleston, died Saturday, May 16, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, following a brief illness.
She was born May 8, 1936, in Osceola, Ark., daughter of Leon and Mary Hunt Bradley. She married James Brown in January 1955.
Brown had worked at Mueller Farms in Bertrand. She was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church at Deventer and its choir, and was lead singer of the Mt. Hope Specials.
Survivors include her husband; seven sons, Ronnie, Larry, Michael and Kevin Brown of Charleston, Terry and Billy Brown of Memphis, Tenn., Richard Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Josephine Brown of Memphis, Debra Brown of Chicago; her parents of Charleston; two brothers, Leon Bradley Jr. of East Prairie, Billy Bradley of Charleston; five sisters, Mattie Garth and L.V. Cannon of Osceola, Bernice Gaines of Chicago, Elsie Whitney and Catherine Owens of Charleston, and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Matthew's Baptist Church. The Rev. William Watson will officiate, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. Thursday.
